Buena Vista Lodge was a cattle farm that changed its original activity for eco tourism. With Rincón de la Vieja National Park as a neighbour, we became an important slow down area protection for this park. Because of that this area is rich on flora and fauna

There are 2000 acres of private reserve, for which 1000 are primary and secondary forest. The rest is dedicated to livestock and horse activities. Our activities are aimed to the protection and reforestation of the forest to transform pollution into oxygen

The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens and has views to both the volcano and the Pacific ocean. Our lookout provides a 360 degree view and spectacular sunsets. Just off the hotel, you will find our corrals, where real cowboys and ranch hands begin working in the early hours each day.

For over 100 years, Hacienda Guachipelin has been a working ranch. In 1975, Tomás Batalla Esquivel, a renowned cattle and pure bred Spanish horse breeder acquired the property. In recent years, don Tomás' children have joined their father in his efforts to further the family legacy.

The property comprises1600 hectares of land, of which 700 hectares are set aside for the conservation of the tropical dry forest; 575 hectares are used as pastureland; and 325 hectares are being reforested with species in danger of extinction.

Our Lodge is located in Guanacaste Costa Rica. We are inside the Guanacaste Conservation Area at the side of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. Dedicated to the eco-tourism, we are the closest Lodge / Hotel to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

A total of 70% of our 400 hectares of land is dedicated to ecological project and reserve. We are offering peace and tranquility in harmony with the nature.

It is almost a rustic museum, like an old Hacienda house, constructed of wood with 42 double or multiple rooms with private bath and hot water surrounded by forest.

There is a bar, a small swimming pool, a family style restaurant with exquisite typical food, telephone, fax & Internet service and TV area.

We provide our electricity by falling water into a turbine, 24 hours a day, that moves a generator, producing the electricity. It is nice, quiet, ecological and safe.
