A half day’s drive southeast from San José lies the province of Limón, where the country meets the Caribbean Sea.

While traveling on the Braulio Carrillo Highway, which connects San José to Limón, you will see beautiful scenery full of exotic flora and fauna. From misty mountains that are a part of the  true rain forest, to pristine beaches surrounded by coconut trees, you will get a better sense of the tropical side of the country

Rafting in the Atlantic rivers, snorkelling in beautiful coral reefs, birding in the exotic jungles, and surfing in the clear, warm waters are all unforgettable experiences.

You can spend time scuba diving or fishing in Tortuguero National Park, known as the Costa Rican Amazon. Tortuguero is a biological paradise ribboned with a series of rivers and canals, and is home to sloths, manatees, monkeys, toucans, fishing bats and much more. Much scientific research is conducted on the nesting of the green marine turtle and crocodiles here.

The town of Puerto Viejo has a unique Afro-Caribbean influence, showcased in many hotels, restaurants and shops. Surfers shouldn’t overlook this place and famous waves that reach up to 40 feet high.

Resting in the Costa Rican Caribbean black and white sands and watching the beautiful flight of the migratory marine birds, are perfectly soothing for your body and soul.
